Assholes

Read a quote somewhere few days back and it had been circling around in my mind since then.

"Dogs are out link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit wit ha dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace." - Milan Kundera

The joy of companionship

Taking care of a 80+ years old cancer patient who had his stomach removed, suffered from minor stroke, extremely picky with food but maintaining his body weight is crucial, and with no other course of treatment available can be very exhausting, and I don't mean only physically, it also involved a hell lots of wits, patients and lastly money. Everyone around and basically I mean everyone that is directly responsible with the daily care taking, from helping him around the house, checking on his daily blood glucose level, to meals preparations, grandpa needs to eat at least a decent amount of food every two hours interval, and since he has decided to heed his filial sons' advice to turn vegetarian instead of the professor and dietitians', it is totally fine, as long as he is happy, and remains healthy.

What irks me is not the never ending process of reminding, coaxing, pleading him to eat every two hours, but people who think they knew best in everything and anything, barking orders through phone calls, emails and even facebook chats but not offering any form of constructive solutions when their old daddy refused to eat his veggie, or fruits or anything else that he is suppose to be eating.

Did I mention my mum who is supposedly a "homemaker" but she had to run errands and handle administrative works of my dad's company, deal with basically almost every level from clerical tasks to handling lazy-asses + bitchy civil servants in government departments, as well as those daily upkeeping at home and a driver to send and pick us up, had literally lost weight and grew old overnight after just a week of stay grandpa was here? No? Did I also mention that people around thought a homemaker like her is damn free and has a hell lots of time sitting at home sleeping + watching TVs and do nothing productive in life but in real life it is the total opposite of that they thought? No?

I could have been sarcastic over the phone but on second thought it is just not worth my time to argue. Assholes are everywhere including within the family, what more the extended family.

I'm glad to be able to enjoy the simplicity of life, my source of joy, the peace of mind.
