Updates on the chicks

I had a total of 12 chicks in the first week, and I lost three due to cold weather at night even after setting up light bulbs and heat lamps in their cages, three couldn't make it. =(

So numbers down to 9. Seven Malay chicks and a pair of Red Jungle Fowl. I'm suspecting Jibby the male Red Jungle Fowl might be a carrier of some disease or bacteria, and it is in isolation for the past two weeks. On and off sneezing, vet prescribed Baytril to clear up respiratory infection.

Today I discovered horrifying new problem with one of my Malay chicks ( 1 month old).
Conjunctivitis on right eye

But the other eye is totally fine.
In fact this chick been eating and shitting normal, one of the active, happy chicks, except for that eye.
This chick is currently in quarantine, and it is not happy with it and make sure I knew it is not happy ( loud and non- stop chirps).

Mum had accident this morning, a speeding lorry going downhill basically "sodomized" our car. The impact was so great that the little car in front of ours was also a victim of "sodomy" in that accident. Mum was shocked and thanks to the kind Pak Cik ( means Uncle in Malay Language) from the car in front got down and assisted in taking down necessary details of that irresponsible and reckless lorry driver, and directed us to the nearest police station for reporting and insurance claim. I'm glad nobody was hurt in that accident, but I'm still pissed with the attitude of that lorry driver, he claimed his 10-wheeled lorry doesn't have a break and  it is not his fault since it is doing downhill.
* Note: not faulty break, but NO BREAKING AT ALL!

How on earth can a commercial vehicle get pass PUSPAKOM and allowed on road? Anyway, I've also made an official complain to the Road & Transport Department, as well as his employer on that incident. Lets see what other nonsense they will come out with.

Today's appointment with vet didn't turn out well since vet had emergency cases, and I couldn't wait any longer because it was drizzling and getting worse. Needed to get car into shade before heavy downpour.
Rescheduled for tomorrow morning slot, and so far sick chicks been doing fine in isolation, generally.

On side note, I been trying to cut down on my expenditure.
Made another feeding tray using an empty milk carton.

Gaps in between are around 1 inch or slightly more.

Tested out this one earlier, and it works great. Lesser food spill (none of the chicks manage to jump inside and start digging and spilling food), lesser poo in food, and those physically larger chicks don't get to shove smaller size chicks away during meals. Six gaps allowed six chicks to feed at a time, sometimes smaller size chicks will stand on top of this feeder and join the feast, making it seven chicks feeding at a time.
