Food and more food

Now everyone knows why we put on weight at home easily.

It is almost always about food. Anyway, recent meals:
Cow liver + gullet + Buffalo tripe

Beef trims + goat testicles + goat tendons

Buffalo's trachea + sardines

Cow lungs + mutton chunk ( bone in)

I've stocked up so much of beef or beef parts during my recent trip back to hometown that Teh Pao is getting more beef these days than any other time in the year. This is also due to the drastic price hike in poultry and pork, white meats became so expensive that for the same price I can get a decent cut of fresh beef or mutton from butcher's daily slaughters. Fishes are still very much affordable but Teh Pao doesn't like fishes, so I bought some fresh food that doesn't needs to be frozen as an alternative ( they're much more affordable than those processed + cleaned dead birds).

This is a Brahma chick, I've a total of 4 chicks but one died today.

This duckling is the only one in yellow fur, the other two are grey and dark brown.

We're doing good so far, keeping these fresh food happy and warm. They're noisy bunch of litters to keep, especially meal time, but fun to watch as Teh Pao interact with her source of food ( and mine too). It is a surprise that Teh Pao gets along well with these chicks, sometimes taking a nap together, very heart warming scene but sad because if they survived, which most of them will, they will be turned into food.

That's Teh Pao, distracted by those moving "food".

I'm also making my own treats and chews at home, so we're cutting down expenses on commercial pet food and I do try avoid buying any. Since I travel so much these days, given the fact that mum is working and younger brother will not touch raw meat or animal parts, so cutting out kibble based diet is not really possible..

Those yellow stripes are cow's ligament, they're chewy in nature so drying them makes perfect chews for Teh Pao. I've also dehydrated some trachea but those are given to a friend. As for those tiny little stripes in maroon colour are beef jerky. Jerky are too good to be left alone in this house, so Teh Pao decided it is good to store these sinful jerky in her stomach rather than leaving it in the treat box.

Another batch of treats in production - puffed lungs.

Some other food we served at home on busy mornings:
Merrick Dog Food, chicken flavor if not mistaken.

Merrick canned food, chicken thigh.

Holistic Blend Grain Free Turkey flavor, whatever remaining from my absence in the past 3 weeks finished this morning. This I will keep in mind because I am generally happy with the quality of it and Teh Pao enjoyed her meal.

I was in the mid of writing a review on Holistic Blend Grain Free until my computer crashed. So I shall leave it until I come back from my next trip. Mean time, Teh Pao will go on Merrick Grain Free Duck + Potato Formula for the next one week while I am away in Borneo.

I have yet to sum up the total expenses for both June and July, but pretty sure it is another heart attack.
