The PAOs Maintenance: November 2012

Still trying hard to control my expenditure without compromising the quality of life. So keeping track on the expenses and what exactly I bought is a good idea, since I always spend on repetitive things.

Monthly Average for the PAOs' expenses as per November 2012:
Food: RM134.15
Treats: RM2.85
Veterinary and Medical: N/A
Accessories and Miscellany: N/A

TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES: RM137.00

Food cost hiked up last month. I was able to keep it within two digits, until I made an impulse purchased of freshly slaughtered local goat ( not sheep) raw, unprocessed stomach, trachea, liver, lungs, heart and pancreas that cost RM50 ( those internal organs cost RM25 per KG).

For beginning of November I manage to get a good bargain of less than RM10 for a tray of 4 slices of beef, and both the PAOs had steak on Teh Pao's brithday. Not a healthy meal for the PAOs but they both loved it.

Other than that, price for meat usually hike up at least 10% to 15% by year end ( for Christmas and Chinese New Year), so I stocked up on chicken and beef. I also bought half a KG of pork slices at the price of RM7.20 directly from a slaughter house which is 20% cheaper than those you can get from market. Would like to see whether pork is acceptable for Teh Pao's liking or not. Bought a cow's tongue, trachea and heart for RM15, some rice and extra chickens to be sent along with Dao Sah Pao to the farmhouse. Nobody foresee that we will have to send her off and everything was a mess when that happened. On one hand, I'm glad I don't have to surrender DSP and have her put to sleep, so sending her to one of my father's oil palm nursery might be a better choice, for now. At least I'm able to get updates time to time from the Indonesian worker whom DSP is living with right now.

Moo moo's tongue.

Nothing much special on food, I didn't spend much on veggies although both of them loves carrots. So that is a must on list which I always get from local supermarket. On and off we get some fresh, organic zuchinni, pumpkins and some other greens planted by foreign workers who worked in my dad's oil palm plantations, so I suppose those freebies come handy especially on a very tight budget month.

Treat wise, bought a cow's trachea from slaughterhouse at RM2.85, extremely cheap compared to those sold in local market. Have yet to dehydrate it, but I'm sure it will be a fast mover ( PAOs love dehydrated stuff).

On side note, I met two accidents on road back in November. One of it was a hit and run, some middle age guy crashed my car with his motorbike during heavy traffic jam and ran off. According to witness, that motorbike doesn't have any registered licence plate!! Anyway, repair cost a bomb, but I'm thankful it is just the car.

It's now December... and I think it is also the beginning of allergy season for Teh Pao.
