RIP Jibby

I lost Jibby yesterday afternoon, both my Red Jungle Fowl fought, and they fought to death. Reason unknown, but I'm suspecting is it a territorial issues, or bossy Rosma was just being a bitch.

RIP Jibby, you will be missed.

On other news, I been getting eggs from either Jibby or Rosma. Turned out that Jibby is not a male but female, now it doesn't really matter any more.

Mulberry

Can't remember when exactly elder brother brought back these mulberry. These poor thing been neglected for quite some months, although malnourished but they survived, and I took the liberty of claiming ownership over them.

According to a forumer who stay nearby, these mulberry are sturdy plants that needed little care and will thrive as long as there are sunlight, soil and water. He planted in his garden and it turned into a shrub, they're lovely.

 

I grow mine in a flower pot and after trimming 'em once, they started to bear fruits.

Can't wait to harvest another batch of mulberry. The reddish one are usually sour, once they're ripe ( shinny black), they're sweet.

Teh Pao loves frozen mulberries and I use to add in a few in her meals alongside with blueberries or other berries, whichever has a better bargain.

Anyway, I'm planning to expand my army of mulberry and got a stalk of mulberry branch from the very same forumer.

I'll need to shift them into a proper pot. :D

Recent meals

I been lazing around lately. So it is just mix and match for Teh Pao.

Tiny pair of chicken wings and chicken leg for bone in meal + buffalo tripe

Small chicken thigh with some strawberry cubes

Chicken carcass with buffalo tripe

Pair of chicken feet and mutton slices

Since Teh Pao made a big fuss and won't touch any food with he presence of organ meat, I've resorted to serving cooked/ steamed organ meat once a week to made up the portion.

On other hand, here's the second batch of my chicks.

1 month old Brahma chicks

and some avocado that survived the dark age of compose bin, shifted to ground and now attacked by snails.

Will need to do something about that.

 

As for the human at home, Mum tried new recipe and these buns are delicious 

They're all gone when I go for second helping =(

Food Growing...

Some news on my flock of future food..

Been a month I have them.

Red Jungle Fowl is growing, confirmed a pair.

This is Jibby, the male Red Jungle Fowl. Very greedy feller.

And this is just one of the remaining six Malay chicks I have.

Lost four, three due to disease and cold ( light bulb burnt middle of night and they caught flu), one due to accident ( poor thing was accidentally stepped on). They're growing.

Basically I feed them grains ( dried corns, mixture of rejected grains and rice...etc), sometimes some kitchen leftovers that mum think is okay to give it to them ( she used to take care of chickens during childhood), I suppose it is okay. Usually they're let out to to run and roam free in the garden, strange enough these chicks stay only on the grassy area, which makes cleaning very much easier for me. I believe they get some extra protein supply from the ground by digging for earthworms and caterpillar other than those tiny little ikan bilis ( kitchen leftovers). Good for them, I'm happy, 'cuz in another two month or so I'll get to harvest the remaining six chicks. As for the pair of Red Jungle Fowl, I do plan to keep 'em as pet.

Teh Pao is stil afraid of those tiny, fast moving chicks.

But they'll soon discover the horror that she eats chicken! XD
